Wow. I didn't realise Yamaha pianos went back to the 1960s.

Doc -
thanks for posting this. I don't think I've ever seen a video of Mr. Dixon. This is a great performance!

I guess one of the benefits of being a Chicago native is I got to see Willie a bunch of times right up close. I remember one big outdoor show, the pickup on his bass went out. He set it down on the stage, took it apart, and got it fixed in the space of a song. No roadie or tech, just Willie working on his own gear... He obviously knew what he was doing.

I've only read a bit about the whole "Chess Records" era. But, from what I can tell Willie may well have been the most influential of all those iconic blues artists. He was a prolific writer, great bassist, and an amazing performer. This man wrote more classic, "benchmark" blues songs than anyone..........

Little Red Rooster, Hoochie Coochie Man, Evil, Spoonful, Back Door Man, I Just Wanna Make Love To You, I Ain't Superstitious, My Babe, Wang Dang Doodle, Bring It On Home, and more........ Truely an amazing legacy of one of the all time greats.

Don't forget You Need Love (performed by Muddy Waters) which wound up as the lead off track on Led Zeppelin II.
