Toontrack EZDrummer 2

Post by Verndog » Tue May 06, 2014 4:30 pm

Well long awaited, finally downloaded and holy crap! Since I joined here we had so many computer changes. In 2010 I got this here iMac, and every chance updated or upgraded when I could, and learned as much as possible from this forum as well as tricks from other studio works. We all agree, I hope, that some choices shared here was beneficial, such as when I started using Toontrack EZ drummer and Superior Lines. Well today the long awaited upgrade has come... OMG! Everything I wished I had before, is now here. There are so many intuitive changes that have been applied, just go to toontrack.com to see the videos supporting this release. Soon i will have more songs together, using this exclusively. Woo Hoo juices are moving now!

Is EZ2>Superior1?

I've come up with a solution that I honestly think works out best for one of both of us.

The interface has a Beat search. Play a simple kick.snare hat combo. Then hit search. Gives in percentage a match scenario. Say you find the best grooves right away, you right click on the midi file and say "use song creator". Then several song formats such as blues, ababcab, aaabbbaaaccc, song structures (Many more) pop up. you drag that into the midi editor right on the bottom. Then you can edit there. The mixer not only is extended to 16 channel outs but also contain the effects found in Superior drummer. The presets alone are cool. All you existing EZX kits are imported, plus two new kits come. Also has a tambourine, claps, and shakers and cow bells. Here is the kicker... say you like the vintage ezx but hate all the snare drums, but like the original EZ snare. The EZX's now share the sound library with no issue. Supirior you need to set up the trigger pads, tweak and hope.

Other neat things are during the groove match. Say you find one but the power drive is on the ride not the hat. A thing called power hand comes up. Just drag from ride to hat. NO MORE SCORE EDITS!
So much to play with!

Oh I forgot. Don't have Nashville midi files in library? The match will show you files in the packs you don't have, and they download in a second, and are usable! It highlights a blue Web icon, you click on it and it will tell you which midi pack it is from. Wow!

I love the idea of the Beat Search! Usually, I have to go over them one at a time just to find the right one.

http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=12786067 This is a new Kouncil song beginning. Used the new EZ Drummer2 on it, no DAW anything... just the EZDrummer stereo setting, and a Big Room setting on the mixer. Big as hell... Cool thing is I could trigger a tambourine as if it were on a high hat!
