Kinetic Energy - In Memory of Elizabeth Reed

Post by RCSBlues » Mon Dec 08, 2008 3:19 pm

Newbie here -

Kinetic Energy in April 1979 on Jackson Street Live - Audio Tracks –
Click on the link below at my signature for either song to play on the right of the screen;
These are the full versions of these songs and they can be downloaded;

In Memory of Elizabeth Reed – 10:48; I'm playing the lead part at the beginning of the song, and then sharing lead guitar throughout with my brother Gary; he does all of the second lead break after the Hammond B3 solo; Gary did all the arranging of the songs in our band.

Dreams I’ll Never See – 8.03. Brother Gary singing lead; I'm playing lead guitar at the beginning on Electra X340 utilizing MPC Flanger, then Gary plays lead, then we both share lead guitar parts to the end.

These live recordings are from the first time that my brother Gary and I, or Kinetic Energy for that matter, had performed together – anywhere – and we played on a live TV show – 2 complete sets (10 songs) - which resulted in 1.1 hours of recorded music time.

My younger brother Gary Smith was a well known blues musician in Des Moines Iowa; sadly he passed away from cancer last year on Oct 1, 2007 at the age of 55.

He is playing the Gibson 335 in these pics: http://www.rivercityamps.com/electra/RCSblues.php

Thanks for listening,

Very nice job on those tunes! enjoyed it allot, and it's so great you have these gigging pics of your brother and you playing together! If you have the rest of the set available please feel free to post links to them here, I'm very sure everybody would love to hear them.
I wonder now, what was his fate? Is he on the run? Or did his lights go out tonight? Will he see the sun? Star Trek "It may be the warriors who get the glory, but it's the engineers who build societies."

RCS...........I throughly enjoyed those!! I'd give a body part to play "In Memory......" or "Dreams" with a B-3 player in the band.

Great playing, and really a great feel to those songs.

Thanks for posting them.

Hey man I am very sorry to read about your bro' passing last year. He was way too young.

I went off about government wasting our money but it seems not the right place to bring it up. So I stifled myself :cool: . Needless to say, I say stop spending money on bullshit ( like space shuttles ) and give more to legit medical research so we can find out how to beat cancer, AIDS and a host of other incurable stuff.

Again sorry about brother Gary and the music sounds very good, nice playing.
