Haven't tried it myself but it's getting rave reviews over at the KVR forum.

Been a while, but it had a very nice tonal sound to it. Amp's were damn near to on the money. The fx's are very well replicated, but, without the acutal foot control, it can be a bit of a pia. If your using that same sound through out the piece it's not bad. Or if your doing multi takes of the same piece different tone's per take, your ok. It's that switch on the fly that bites.
*Note, like any software amp/fx's if you have the pedal to click/scroll through makes life much easier.

Setup is fairly easy. As well, scrolling through all the features get's you adjusted quickly to what's what without RTFM! There's a wealth of info on their site plus a quick search will yeild a zillion answers to anything you need with it quickly.

As for the FX's, you can have 2 layers (left/right) if you wish or dived them between cabs. You have a Stomp section (A & B) Amp section (A & B) Cab section (A & B) as well as Rack Section (A & B) which is probably the coolest part comparing this to say gearbox or podfarm. (Think this adds a little more seperation then then Pod Farm). You can load up some old rack gear from the 60's 70's so fourth, which is a nice treat.

The Amp's are tight, you have to get finiky with the little buggers if you want to dial in a really true tone from them, but out of the box they nail it fairly well. I like taking the covers off the amps and watching the tubes glo as you turn the volume up. You can adjust the amps and cabs pretty much to taste. The other plus to this, you can swap the tubes out. say there's a Class A el34 in teh amp but you like the tone of the 100w 6L6 instead, Click, done. There's a nice range of tubes you can select through. Plus go solid state if you want.

The Cab's you can adjust mic's type, position, on of axis, and also set the ambience of the room as well. So lots of options here as well.

*Side note have the Amplitude Fender as well and they nailed it on that as well. Purest will notice subtle differences in the amp/cabs but damn those ears have to be 100% on the money.

With that all said, I'm thinking that Amp3 has added new gear that's came out over the last couple years and probably tweaked some of this old gear a bit to make them even harder to distinguish between software and the real deal.

Now my curiosity is peak'n to see what's in Amp3, I'm sure it has at least half of the Fenders in there from Amp Fender. If you're Diehard Fender user, then I'd recommend the Amplitude Fender. Other then that, you can use the different amp sims in Amp2 to dail in that missing fender, or Hopefully Amp3 has a good portion of them. You won't be dissappointed with Amp3 going by Amplitude and Amplitude2. Again everything is tweakable from Amp (Small to Big) --> Cabs (1x8 to 4 x12) ---> Mic's (condenser/dynamic) ---> Stomps (Chorus to wah's)---->Racks (analog chorus to Tube Compressors)... Also.. if you want, you can drop in (open) something recorded or song that your working out and jam along to it right within the program. That way you can tweak and get the settings you want before you load up all the recording gear and start multi-tasking windows =)

OK, haven't been all through Amp3 yet.. BUt DAMN!!!!!!!

They stepped up the game Large!!!! Amp2 is preschool compared to Amp3!

Just clicking through some of the settings and It actually pulled in everything from Amp Fender, so don't have to juggle back and fourth between the two, can switch everthing within Amp3. Now it didn't bring in Amp Jimi, but that's not a huge deal. The other thing to note, they added Midi capablities to Amp3. Hopefully get some time next week to go through it better, but Mister Ramp you will not be dissappointed with it at all. It has Tonnes of flavours to choose from end some!

By the way, how big's that doghouse now?

I have a $300 credit with Guitarcenter so I don't have to worry about gettin' in trouble... I'm just at that stage of "What to buy, what to buy?"..... And Amp 3 is sounding better and better to me... I wanted to get a couple, two, three things but Amp 3 will eat up the whole 3 bills... Thanks for all the input Stamp... I'll let you guys know...

Dammit Mud.... :shakesfist: ... I really want it now... I notice that for a hundred bucks more you get the pedal with it. And I'm guessing it's the same software yea?.. I wonder if that is really worth it... Anyone know?

That's what I was saying about the pedal. If you like to do a lot of changes on the fly, then your good to go for it, otherwise you might get caught in mouse clicking Hell! and stopping to change while you got a good groove going. If you plan to use the rig live, the pedal is a must. In the studio setting it's real bonus, not that you need it, but it does make things more simplified and saves on takeing to many takes cause you had to change from this setting to this. With the pedal you can swap preset Amps, cabs, stomps, racks with a tap of the toe or turn things off and on as your playing instead of grabbing a mouse.

Played with the Leslie and some fuzz last night for about 30 seconds.. OMG"D! I'll leave it at that.

ME TOO! :shakesfist: :D

If you want to try a free alternative you can check out the Shred Suite from AcmeBarGig: http://www.acmebargig.com/shred/

I'm not saying it will do everything Amplitube does (no stomp effects are included) but the amp models thse guys have created are pretty sweet.
